Seems to be going OK - anyone else had lessons, how many did you have, and what was the outcome - any good?

Never needed lessons... I'm like Happy Gilmore... smash a ball 300+ yards with a 3 iron and then take 5 to putt... absolute natural.... golf lessons are for charlatans.... aka P son

OK with Golf. Come across all sorts of folk who take the game up
Squash on the other hand is a proper Surrey trait that should be frowned upon at every opportunity

I got 6 lessons for £90. If you want to play golf and you've not gone round in under 100, a set of lessons will improve everything no end. I did mine at Dunton Hills, the pro's there are good teachers.

A couple of years ago I met up with an old squash opponent. He played as a lefty and followed that lead through to his golf. After a couple of years of frustration he went to a coach to cure his big left hander's consistent slice from tee or fairway. The coach tried a number of things but try as he might he could never get my friend to take his left sided dominance out of the power shots [ oddly around and on the green he had a good feel for the shots ].
One day the coach said to him lets try you playing right handed and gave him a seven iron to practice. It felt odd at first and after 30 minutes he was not hitting the ball very far but he was hitting it straight. By playing as a right hander he was using his unequal body strength i.e. his left sided dominance the logical way round. To cut a long story short this chap now plays off 11 compared to struggling at 20 playing left handed. He still puts left handed btw.

Chelmsford hammer 6.17pm Thursday "got a guy called lee porter who is a master club fitter which is ideal if your buying any clubs, although its a three week wait to get an appointment with him."
All my clubs have been made by Lee, I can't recommend him highly enough. Has helped my game no end. He is also not sales driven.I know several people who have been for an assessment with Lee and been told I can't make you anything to better than your game , than you have. He then doesn't charge for that time. One mate went for a driver fitting, was told his swing wasn't good enough to use a driver. Lee gave him some drills and tips (Lee is also a PGA professional) and said come back in two months. My friend did and only once his swing had improved did Lee fit him with a driver.
I had a lesson with Lee, April this year as I struggling with my irons. Plenty to work on but getting there
Mrs Westside used David at Hylands for an initial block of 6 lesson to start her on the golf path. Once she was committed to the sport we got her some clubs from Lee.

Funnily enough, Vic mentioned this yesterday, rotation of the hips. I had a session down the range straight after to practice it, plus slowing my swing down in both directions. It seems easier with the short irons, so that's the next challenge.
He's impressed me so far, he doesn't seem to hurry, there was two weeks between the two lessons I had, plus he said ring me in two weeks and we'll book another one. So that will be three weeks at least.
I like his style.

The best book for normal golfers is an online book that has videos as well and is called the simple golf swing by a bloke called david nevogt. it is what is says , a simple golf swing and it does exactly what is says teaches you a simple repetitive swing. As you get better you tend to just use parts of what it teaches you but is does work.

i had 1 lesson about 15 years ago. The instructor told me I had very good rhythm. I never went back after that
That wa shis polite way of saying take up disco dancing!
